Bolgheri Sassicaia is one of the most famous and precious Italian wines in the world and is exclusively produced by the company "Tenuta San Guido", which holds all the vineyards.
Sassicaia is a wine whose production is permitted only in a specific area of Castagneto Carducci near Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast south of Livorno.
The first bottles of Sassicaia date back to 1944 for exclusive family use. The first year of commercialization was 1968. It is obtained with at least 80% of actual Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
Sassicaia holds a record: it is the first and so far the only Italian wine of a specific cellar that has, as is in France for a few other famous wines, a specially reserved DOC.
In fact, the name Bolgheri Sassicaia can only be used by the Tenuta San Guido.
Particularly suitable for foods with intense flavour and game, especially roasted pigeon and strong cheeses.
It is also recommended with nuts and raw porcini mushrooms, seasoned only with a few drops of olive oil and some intense herbs from the Mediterranean. Source Wikipedia (https://it.wikipedia.org)
